Fabrication
C&C Boat Works entered the Offshore Supply Vessel
(OSV) market in early 2006. The extensive fabrication
shop provides the ideal location for indoor construction.

New-build line up |
The newbuild division employs a naval architect and a
managerial staff possessing years of experience in the
shipbuilding industry to ensure quality of design and
build.
The shop measures 60 feet wide by 425 feet long.
In total, there are 2 crane bays with4 overhead cranes,
ranging from 5 ton to 10 ton capacities.
Initial boat fabrication is conducted entirely indoors
in our fabrication building using an in-house- designed
work platform, commanly called "the jig". The
jig is an inverse steel Lines Plan of the vessel that
allows the vessel to be built entirely upright and as
a single unit. The jig ensures that the hull is formed
as engineered.
The benefits of the upright construction method are tremendous:
- Immediate pipe installation.
- Immediate outfitting items installation.
- Immediate equipment installation.
- Up-right worker orientation makes drawing interpretation
easier.
- Upper decks can be built while the vessel is on the
jig.
- A ‘lift-and-turn’ operation is not required.
- Vessel is built as a single unit, eliminating potential
sub-Block erection problems.
- Ease of movement from jig to fit-out production area.
- Jig assures proper vessel shape and eliminates many
fairing and symmetry problems.
- Jig provides a stable and safe working platform for
the entire hull construction process.

C&C Boat Works uses the most advanced CAD / CAM software,
and has developed many in-house software programs to aid
with the vessel engineering and production:
Parts List Database:
o Tracks all of the vessel steel parts and piping from
creation to installation.
o Provides a series of reports that aid production in
ordering, shipping and handling all parts.
o Generates profile cuts sheets for all non-plate steel
parts.
o Arranges all parts into sub-assemblies
o Allows scheduling of sub-assemblies to be sent for burning
as production requires. This eliminates many material-handling
issues.
Master Equipment List (MEL):
o A massive spreadsheet that tracks all equipment and
outfitting items.
o Used for ordering and receiving.
o Tracks installation of each component.
o Provides vendor contact information.
o Contains all equipment specifications
o Tied into a ‘Vendor Data Book’ – a
PDF file of all vendor provided information.
Time Tracking Database:
All production tasks have been broken and assigned work
codes. As the vessels are built, very accurate man-hour
allotment data is achieved. This is later analyzed to
determine where improvements can be made on subsequent
vessels.
With this, C&C Boat Works is able to refine and improve
its processes to lower costs and provide customers with
a high quality product.
