Robotic Blast Facility

C&C Marine and Repair operates one of the most advanced surface preparation facilities in the marine industry — a patented robotic blast system that fundamentally changes the economics and quality of blasting and painting.

Our facility houses 3 robotic blast units, each delivering the efficiency of 10 men. That means our robotic system matches the output of 30 workers — but with far greater consistency and quality. The robots operate 24/7, providing continuous production that dramatically reduces project turnaround times. To date, we have blasted and painted 680+ barges.

Because there is no human operator in the blast zone, our robots use significantly larger grit sizes and much higher blast pressures than any manual blaster can safely achieve. This results in a deeper, more uniform anchor profile that dramatically improves coating adhesion and long-term corrosion protection. Manual blasters are limited by safety constraints — our robots are not.

Unlike manual blasting, which varies with operator fatigue and technique, our robotic system delivers a perfectly uniform blast profile across every square inch of surface. This consistency is critical — the coating system is only as good as the surface preparation beneath it.

The entire blast operation takes place in our indoor, climate-controlled facility. This eliminates weather-related delays, prevents flash rusting from humidity, and ensures optimal conditions for immediate coating application after blasting. No outdoor blast operation can match this level of environmental control.

Superior Quality

The Robot Advantage

Our robotic blasters achieve results that are physically impossible for manual blasters to match — not just in speed, but in quality.

Higher Grit Size & Blast Pressure

Manual blasters are limited by safety regulations — the grit size and blast pressure they can use are constrained to protect the human operator. Our robots have no such limitations.

Larger grit media creates a deeper, more aggressive anchor profile
Higher blast pressure removes coatings and corrosion more completely
No operator fatigue means consistent pressure across every surface
Result: coatings adhere better and last significantly longer

Proven at Scale

With more than 680 barges blasted and painted, our robotic system has proven its reliability and quality at a scale no manual operation can match. Our 24/7 operation runs continuously, completing projects faster and more consistently.

Indoor Facility

Climate-Controlled Environment

Our entire blast and paint operation takes place indoors, giving us complete control over the environmental conditions that determine coating quality and longevity.

No Weather Delays

Rain, wind, and extreme temperatures shut down outdoor blast and paint operations. Our indoor facility operates year-round regardless of weather conditions, keeping your project on schedule.

Optimal Temperature & Humidity

Controlled temperature and humidity prevent flash rusting after blasting and ensure coatings cure properly. This is especially critical in the Gulf Coast climate where high humidity can ruin outdoor blast work.

Superior Coating Longevity

The combination of robotic blast consistency and climate-controlled coating application produces a finish that lasts significantly longer than coatings applied in uncontrolled outdoor conditions.

Our Process

Surface Prep to Final Inspection

Every blast and paint project follows a rigorous three-stage process that ensures consistent, high-quality results.

01

Surface Preparation

Our patented 3-robot blast facility removes old coatings, rust, mill scale, and surface contaminants down to bare steel. The robotic system delivers a uniform, consistent blast profile that manual blasting cannot match, ensuring optimal coating adhesion across the entire surface.

02

Coating Application

Professional coating application in our indoor, climate-controlled facility ensures ideal temperature and humidity conditions for every coat. Whether the specification calls for epoxies, polyurethanes, zinc primers, or specialty coatings, our team applies them to manufacturer specifications.

Quality Assurance

Every project undergoes rigorous quality assurance testing throughout the blast and paint process. We verify surface preparation quality, coating thickness, adhesion, and cure at every stage to ensure the finished product meets or exceeds all specifications.
