Barge Construction
C&C Marine and Repair constructs deck barges, spud barges, and tank barges built to the highest industry standards. From small utility barges to large ocean-going platforms, we deliver quality and reliability.
Barge Construction
Built to the Highest Standards
Our barges are engineered and constructed at our state-of-the-art shipyard in Belle Chasse, Louisiana, using indoor construction bays and automated panel lines for consistent quality.
C&C Marine and Repair has extensive experience constructing barges for every application in the inland and coastal marine industry. Our automated panel line, robotic welding systems, and indoor construction bays enable us to deliver barges with exceptional fit-up, weld quality, and structural integrity.
From flat-deck cargo barges to double-hull tank barges transporting hazardous liquids, every barge leaving our facility is built to client specifications. ABS classification and USCG inspection are available upon request for customers who require them.

Barge Types
Types of Barges We Build
C&C Marine constructs a complete range of barges, each designed and built to meet your specific operational requirements and regulatory standards.

Deck Barges
Flat-deck barges are the workhorses of the inland marine industry, used for transporting heavy cargo, construction equipment, and materials along rivers, canals, and coastal waterways. C&C Marine builds deck barges in a wide range of sizes, from small utility barges to large ocean-going deck barges.
Construction Specifications
| Typical Length Range | 100 ft - 400 ft |
| Typical Beam Range | 30 ft - 100 ft |
| Typical Depth Range | 7 ft - 20 ft |
| Deck Load | Up to 2,000 PSF |
| Classification | ABS / USCG |
- Heavy-duty steel construction
- Reinforced deck plating for heavy loads
- Raked or box-end bow configurations
- Custom towing and mooring arrangements
- Void or ballast tank configurations

Spud Barges
Spud barges provide a stable working platform for marine construction, dredging support, and heavy-lift operations. Equipped with vertical steel spuds that anchor the barge to the waterway bottom, these vessels maintain precise positioning even in strong currents and tidal conditions.

- Custom accommodation modules available

Tank Barges
Tank barges are designed for the safe transport of liquid cargoes, including petroleum products, chemicals, and other bulk liquids. C&C Marine constructs single-hull and double-hull tank barges that meet or exceed all applicable USCG and EPA regulations for hazardous and non-hazardous liquid transport.

Quality Standards
Construction Standards & Capabilities
We have the capability to build barges to the highest industry standards and regulatory requirements. ABS classification and USCG inspection are available as optional services depending on project requirements.
ABS Classification
Available upon customer request. Barges built to American Bureau of Shipping rules with full classification surveys throughout construction — typically requested for ocean-going barges.
USCG Inspection
Available upon customer request. Barges constructed under USCG inspection to meet Subchapter D, O, or I requirements as project specifications dictate.
AWS Welding Standards
All welding performed by first-class welders using qualified welding procedures.
ASTM Material Standards
Steel and materials sourced to ASTM specifications with full mill certification and traceability.
NACE Coatings Standards
Surface preparation and coatings applied per NACE/SSPC standards for maximum corrosion protection.
EPA Compliance
Tank barges built in full compliance with EPA and OPA 90 environmental regulations for liquid cargo transport.
