Engineering & Design
Our integrated onsite engineering team is the foundation of every successful vessel we build. By keeping engineering in-house, we optimize designs for both performance and construction efficiency — delivering better vessels, faster.
The C&C Difference
Integrated Onsite Engineering
At C&C Marine, our engineering team works right here in our shipyard — not at a remote office or outsourced firm. This is the single biggest factor in our ability to deliver vessels on time and on budget.
When engineers are located onsite, they understand the shipyard's capabilities, equipment, and production processes. They optimize every design for both vessel performance AND construction efficiency. The result is a vessel that not only performs well on the water but is also simpler and faster to build.
Our engineers walk the shop floor daily. They see how steel is cut, formed, and assembled. They understand what welds are easy and which ones are difficult. They know the crane capacities and the building bay dimensions. This knowledge directly informs every design decision.
The result: fewer change orders, less rework, faster construction, and a better final product. Our integrated engineering is the reason C&C Marine consistently delivers on time when other shipyards cannot.

Why It Matters
Integrated vs. Outsourced Engineering
Most shipyards outsource their engineering to remote firms. This seems efficient, but it creates a chain of problems that leads to delays, cost overruns, and frustrated customers.
Outsourced Engineering
When a shipyard outsources engineering to a remote firm, the engineers have never walked the shop floor. They don't know the yard's equipment, crane capacities, or production processes. They design vessels optimized only for performance — not for how they will actually be built.
C&C Integrated Engineering
Our engineers work in the same facility where the vessels are built. They walk the shop floor, understand every piece of equipment, and design vessels that are optimized for both performance and construction efficiency. Simpler designs mean fewer problems and faster builds.
Project Oversight
Engineer-Led Project Management
Every new construction project at C&C Marine is overseen by an experienced onsite engineer who manages the build from design through delivery.
Unlike shipyards that separate project management from engineering, our approach ensures the person overseeing your project deeply understands both the design intent and the construction realities. This eliminates communication gaps and enables faster, better-informed decisions throughout the build.

Our Services
Engineering Disciplines
Our multidisciplinary engineering team covers every aspect of vessel design, from initial concept through detailed production drawings.
Naval Architecture
Hull form development, stability analysis, structural design, and regulatory compliance. Our naval architects design vessels that perform in real-world conditions while being efficient to construct.
Structural Engineering
Detailed structural analysis and design for hulls, superstructures, and equipment foundations. We engineer structures to meet classification requirements while minimizing material usage and fabrication complexity.
Systems Design
Complete design of mechanical, electrical, piping, HVAC, and fire suppression systems. Our systems engineers coordinate with structural and production teams to ensure seamless integration and easy installation.
3D Modeling & Visualization
Complete 3D modeling of every vessel before fabrication begins. This allows us to identify and resolve conflicts between structural, mechanical, and electrical systems before they become expensive problems on the shop floor.
Digital Innovation
Technology-Driven Engineering
C&C Marine leverages SSI ShipConstructor to maximize innovation, minimize field modifications, and integrate automation and robotics into our processes.
“What we really focus on is efficiency, and part of efficiency is being innovative,” said Jonah Dowling, COO at C&C Marine. Our engineering team uses the latest digital tools to model every vessel in 3D before a single piece of steel is cut.
“ShipConstructor is always innovating, so we're always seeing what the new process improvements are,” said Kenneth Neumann, Engineering and Design Manager. This commitment to digital innovation is how we deliver vessels on time and on budget.
